Staff in the saddle for Cycle to Work day

The council's chief executive and colleagues have lent their support to Cycle to Work Day today (Thursday, 4 September) by taking the healthy option of cycling to civic offices.

The national day, championed by Paralympic cycling star Dame Sarah Storey, aims to encourage as many as possible to take to two wheels and cycle to their workplace.

And council staff have the added facility of a recently-installed, fabricated steel bike shelter right outside civic offices. The shelter was specially designed for the council by the Baldock-based Icknield Forge.

Chief Executive Donald Graham said: "I am a very keen cyclist and think it's an excellent way to stay fit, as well as being an environmentally-friendly form of travel. We were pleased to be able to pledge our support to this excellent national initiative."
