Watford Law Firm Teams up with Home Start Watford and Three Rivers

Watford law firm VWV is taking part in Small Charity Week, which aims to raise awareness of the essential work of the UK's small charity sector.

Established by the Foundation for Social Improvement in 2010, the campaign is taking place from 19-24 June. In 2014 it received the Big Society Award from the Prime Minister David Cameron.

As part of Small Charity Week, VWV has announced that Home Start Watford and Three Rivers has been chosen as Charity of the Year by its Watford office.

Home-Start volunteers help families with young children deal with the challenges they face, such as post-natal depression, isolation or bereavement, by providing emotional and practical support. Based in the centre of Watford, the charity was established in 1993 and helps over 120 families each year.

Staff at VWV nominate a charity to partner with each year and raise money through a variety of fundraising activities, as well as donations from the charitable trust. Last year, the firm raised over £2,500 for the Peace Hospice Care.

Alli Nunes, Community Fundraiser at Home-Start Watford and Three Rivers, said:

"We are thrilled to be being supported by VWV this year. We need to raise £150,000 a year to support local children and families. Being chosen as charity of the year makes such a difference to us: it raises our profile in the community and helps us to continue the work we do."

Richard Phillips, VWV Watford Office Partner, commented:

"As a firm we are committed to raising awareness of the amazing work that local charities do and we are very happy to be supporting WAITS this year.

The charity has been providing invaluable emotional and practical support to vulnerable families, and we look forward to raising funds for them."
