Slam Dunk! Wolves Find Sponsor

The Oaklands Wolves professional women's basketball team has secured itself a new sponsor – Berry Recruitment.

The team, based at Oaklands College in St Albans, is the only outfit from the East of England playing in the Women's British Basketball League.

The new sponsor has an important branch in Hatfield and is headquartered in St Albans so it leapt at the chance to sponsor the up-and-coming franchise.

The Wolves started eight years ago as an academy at Oaklands College, giving young people the opportunity to combine education and sport to develop life skills.

Now it boasts a number of international players as well as young, home-grown talent.

Spencer Berry, from Berry Recruitment, said: "With our Hatfield branch so close to the college it was a sponsorship deal that fitted us very well.

"The Wolves are an ambitious team and the programme engages really well with schools and the local community.

"The team are impressive athletes with high skill levels and are clearly improving year by year.

"It's great to see Berry Recruitment on their shirts and of course we wish them all the best for the rest of the season."

Oaklands Basketball Academy Director, Michael Ball, said: "We are proud that the first major sponsors for our WBBL franchise is Berry Recruitment.

"It's a local St Albans-based business that, like ourselves, has continued to expand nationally and we are looking forward to working together over the rest of this season.

"It is always great to find a partner who also believes in what we are trying to do.

"Berry Recruitment really understands how to identify talented individuals and put them into effective teams.

"They are also really passionate about what they do and I think we will have a lot of fun in helping each other."
