To support home buyers hoping to take their first step on the property ladder, the council's Executive agreed to increase the maximum loan size for the Local Authority Mortgage Scheme (LAMS) at its meeting on Wednesday, 22 October.
Watford Workshop, the Charity based in Century Retail Park, that provides disabled people with Work Experience, Skills Training and Employment, has received a £10,000 donation from Watford Community Housing Trust's Community Development Fund. These much needed funds will help Watford Workshop to continue to provide literacy and numeracy training for adult members of the local community with learning difficulties.

A record number of teams of students from schools and colleges across St Albans and Harpenden took up the Dragons' Apprentice Challenge last night at the launch event at St Columba's College. The Connect St Albans Challenge is run by the Centre for Voluntary Service. Over the next four months, the 16 teams of 16 and 17 year olds will attempt to turn £100 into £1000 or more for their nominated charities with the help of local business 'Dragons'.
